Causing some taste sensations
The art of drinking wine has been developed throughout the centuries around the world. And the concept of pairing cheese with wine has been going around for many years as well. So what was so special about the last wine and cheese pairing at Tladi Lodge Hotel? We had the opportunity to taste a specific type of cheese with a specific wine.
Distell presented some lovely wines from their Nederburg range and paired it with particular cheeses, causing a taste sensation to talk about at the next social event or two.
First we tried the Nederburg Lyric, a blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay – an easy drinking and affordable wine. We swirled some in our mouth, swallowed and then had a piece of cream cheese. The cream cheese gave the wine a lovely smooth taste.
Then we tried the Nederburg Cabernet Sauvignon 2012. Although it is a “young” wine, it is already a very drinkable wine. We paired this wine with some parmesan cheese – another lovely after taste was created.
We ended the tasting with a Nedeburg Noble Late Harvest, combined with blue cheese – never thought such a sweet wine will go well with the strong aromas of the blue cheese.
Now we know which cheese will go with which Nederburg wine. Guess we are never too old to learn.
